About this Holiday House
Lake front Bach with boatshed and own jetty. An original 1920's Kauri fishing lodge that whilst retaining its character and atmosphere has been quietly updated with small touches.
Summer, sleep on the balcony with the windows folded back, kayak along the lakefront to the local store or relax on the small private beach or boatshed while your children play or master the kayaks or rowboat.
Winter, laze on the balcony bed, read or play cards beside the open fire, or soak in the plumbed outdoor bath.
Sunset Cocktails or Breakfast in the boatshed.
A living area with open fire (wood supplied but bring or chop your own kindling and firestarters) opens out onto the balcony room with bifolding windows over the lake.
The 3 bedrooms are small but well appointed with quality duvets, bedside lamps, electric blankets etc.
The balcony bed is sought after for starlit summer nights. ( It could be a bit chilly winter nights- we recommend maximum 6 guests over winter because of this but it’s up to you).
The original kitchen has a stove, fridge/freezer and microwave (no dishwasher). There is a 2nd fridge/freezer in the boatshed.
Separate laundry, toilet and shower.
Boat launching 2-3 km's away at either Gisborne Point or Hinehopu, The Shack has its own jetty for overnight mooring. There is parking for cars, boat/trailor but you will need to be able to "5 point turn".
The boat shed is available for your use - along with the rowboat, and 2 kayaks. Bean bags, sofa, and chairs ready for sunset drinks, lakeside lunches or dinners in the boatshed.
BYO LINEN AND REMOVING ALL RUBBISH AND RECYCLING.
$120 cleaning fee per stay - tidy, do dishes, remove rubbish & close up boatshed but leave the vacuuming and wiping to our cleaner!
We discourage preschoolers staying. The shack is fenced from the road but definitely not child or pet proofed. There are also concerns with the jetty, boatshed and open fire with preschoolers.
We would prefer you to not bring jet skis due to their impact on neighbours and nesting birds.
The shack like many Lake Rotoiti houses is alongside the state highway and there will be early morning rumbles especially on weekday mornings. (Our rates are reflective of this).
Our Rotoiti based bach manager may meet you on arrival and collect your key as you depart.
You will need to take all your rubbish and recycling with you. There is kerbside rubbish collection Monday morning if you purchase council bags (so ok if you leave Sundays) but no recycling. (What you bring in you need to take out with you - like boating or tramping. We refill our chilly bins - others bring their recycling bins from home).
The shack is an absolutely waterfront family Bach.
