The waves can be seen rolling onto the beach only 50 metres down the road from the front gate. Lake Pupuke and the beautiful nature reserve is only five minute's walk offering sailing, canoeing, rowing and barbeque facilities. There is also a park at the estuary end of the beach. Milford has a large variety of shops in the main street and then adjacent to this is the shopping Mall - which includes The Warehouse and Countdown Supermarket - over 100 shopping opportunities with a reputation for quality boutiques and footwear. Milford has numerous cafes and small friendly BYO restaurants which offer worldwide cuisine - most with takeaway menus. Takapuna Beach and shopping centre is a 20 minute easy walk with many more shops, cafes, restaurants, cinemas, theatre, heated indoor swimming centre, library and AA tourist information centre. Takapuna Sunday morning market is renowned and a must. Four golf courses & two driving ranges all within 15 minute's drive. Also the North Shore Events Centre and North Harbour Stadium. Historic Devonport is 20 minutes by bus/car and from here you can experience a 10 minute scenic ferry trip from Devonport across to Auckland City operating every 30 minutes. At Devonport the views from Mount Victoria and North Head of Auckland city, the Waitemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf are spectacular.
