About this Holiday House

14 Slalom Place was one of the first houses to be built in Castle Hill Village in the 1980s and has stood the test of the time over many visitors throughout the past three decades. Situated in the heart of the village, a stone’s throw from the Community Hall and one house back from the Village Green, this cosy three-bedroom cabin is perfect for adults and children alike. With two queen beds downstairs and an open upstairs area with a triple bunk (double on the bottom, single on top), single bed and additional foam mattresses for the kids; the house works well for two families or up to eight adults on a weekend away. Fully equipped kitchen, Weber BBQ, wet-back log burner (with fire guard), Bluetooth stereo, smart TV, washing machine, cellphone coverage and Wifi.

Special Attractions and Activities Nearby

Castle Hill Village is a developing, purpose built, mountain resort village set in 360 degree mountain scenery with four excellent ski fields close by (Porters, Cheeseman, Broken River and Craigeburn). Mt Hutt is approximately 1.5hrs away via Lake Coleridge (road is weather dependant). Other attractions include forest walks, mountain biking and tramping (Craigeburn Forest Park) rocking climbing and bouldering (Castle Hill Rocks), caving (cave stream), high country fishing (season first Saturday in November to 30 April - season license from leading sport shops), boating (Lake Pearson or Lyndon). In the house there are maps on the wall and a folder with information on the local attractions. Note that there are currently no commercial operations in the village so you need to bring all your supplies with you. The nearest petrol station / food supplies are in Springfield (25 minutes away). For those who are after a cold pint and a bowl of fries, there's the Springfield Hotel or the Bealy Hotel which is 25 minutes up the road towards Arthurs Pass.

It was a lovely 1980s chalet style place, great fire and really cosy. The owners were great to deal with. I'd definitely stay again.
