Ahipara’s Secret’s Out!!!! Architectural icon from the 70s combines rustic charm with west coast magic. Designed to make the west coast living a one with nature experience; sea, winds, the constant hum of the surf beats its drum as the holiday maker sits snug inside. Newly refurbished!!!
Architecturally eco designed pole house; pine board and batten clad exterior and Douglas fir timber clad ceilings and wall features, rimu timber staircases. Almost 30 doors and windows each specially placed and designed with view, shade / sun, privacy as design features.
The three level home designed above engineer/ building specifications in the 1970s for an all weather to embrace the west coast environs. The result is a lived experience; high winds and storms have rocked this house but it has held true to design, defying all weathers. The sound of the waves close by lull the occupants to sleep. There is always a sheltered deck to enjoy as the 4 decks face North, West, East and South.
A large main open space living area opens on to two of the four decks. The indoor / outdoor flow creates an enjoyable living as part of the elements, sea and sky. Night viewing of the southern sky from the decks is bright star lit.
The interior has unique features. The kitchen retains hand made douglas fir cabinetry, double bifold door pantry and both modern eye level oven and range stove. A new Fischer Paykel fridge / freezer is contained within hand crafted cabinetry.
The bathroom contains a resurfaced and painted claw foot bath, a separate shower / shub (which can also be used as bath), a vanity with large mirror which is separate from the toilet room and also contains a purpose built laundry Shute.
The main bedroom and the second bedroom both have doors on to a deck to enhance the indoor / outdoor flow. Both contain very large double wardrobes. The bedrooms contain beds for five people. A third bedroom / loft is accessed by an additional stairwell and is fully timber clad. It could sleep one or two. The large bay window in the main living area can also double as a bed for one or two.
The main open area loungue has a “snug” area which currently holds dining table and chairs. The main area is spacious. Walk downstairs to the spacious entry off which there is a laundry and a double garage.
