Be aware you are coming to a remote alpine area
The weather can be changeable & unpredictable at times. When selecting a home please be aware that properties have long driveways that may be hard to access due to snow or ice.
In winter you are advised to bring snow chains for your vehicle, even if the main roads are generally cleared quickly. If you cannot reach your chalet because of omission of adequate chains we cannot refund your booking. Driveways might not always be cleared so you may have to leave your vehicle close to the road.
Note that some of the Mt Lyford roads are suitable for 4WD only. The access roads and driveways are shingle based so make sure to drive slowly and in control at all times as to prevent slipping/skidding at any time of year.
This location is famous for its Manuka forests and there are a lot of beehives around gathering the popular Manuka honey. If you are allergic please make sure you bring antidote.
Travel insurance is advised as you are visiting an alpine environment with supplementary risks. The closest Medical centre is in Rotherham (03 3156328). Mt Lyford Holiday Homes has systems in place to assist you in case of adverse events so do not hesitate to contact us for help.
