However we always ask both floors' guests to please be considerate towards each other, and Quiet Hours operate 11pm-7am.
The Hokianga on NZ's west-coast, is the reputed birth-place of Maori civilization almost 1000 years ago, and is renowned as a special place most visitors fall in love with.
We are just over an hour away from NZ's east-coast Bay of Islands (Paihia, Russell & Kerikeri), and with a car you can easily enjoy day-trips to that tourist mecca if you wish, while returning back to your 'piece of unspoilt paradise' in the chilled-out laid-back Hokianga.
There is LOADS to see and do around the Hokianga, including our Kauri Coast's Tane Mahuta (NZ's largest tree), a great coffee at the BoatShed overlooking the water in the quaint historic Rawene peninsula, a ferry to the art studios at Kohukohu, the extraordinary world-unique giant boulders at Wairere, a bone-carving lesson where you're welcome to stay all day if you wish to make your own gorgeous necklace pendant, there are dozens of scenic walking and cycle tracks, enjoying a beer on the terrace at the popular Opononi Tavern, or a pinot gris on the expansive deck at the 100-year-old stately Heads Hotel, and don't forget sand-boarding down the 300-metre dunes (heck go there with a picnic for the whole day if you wish as the inexpensive water-taxi supplies free boogie-boards), plus of course our iconic Hokianga fishing (line, cray, shellfish & big-game charters), and more!
Plus if you're a bit of a history/culture buff, our location is historically significant, with our kitchen window's uninterrupted views of the conical hill Whiria (the most famous Maori Pa fortress in the Hokianga) and our local Pakanae marae (tribal meeting house) is home to the anchor-stone of the legendary Polynesian explorer Kupe who discovered NZ.
NB: This is potentially the closest holiday accommodation available to the Pakanae Marae 1-min drive away.
[PS: If you doesn't bother you to make a few marks on the walls or stains on the carpet, please don't book this property. We work hard to maintain high standard of good quality furnishings. Much thanks.]
