About this Holiday House

Kea Ridge is 28 hectares of private land nestled in native bush with a network of bush trails. Enjoy 360 degree views towards the sea and the bush with abundant native bird song. Just 20 min to Kaiteriteri, Abel Tasman NP, Motueka and 30 min to Takaka Golden Bay. 3 Full bedrooms and 2 bathrooms can easily accomodate large groups. The all day sun streams into the open-plan living with pool table, dining, & kitchen area. After a long day adventuring soak in the spa. There is a hidden gem on the Nelson side of the crystal marble mountain of Takaka Hill. Veering off State Highway 60 you will follow the 500 meter gravel driveway out onto Kea Ridge. From this family home, you will be greeted by 360 degree views of Kahurangi National Park mountains, Tasman Sea, Nelson skyline, and the Richmond Ranges. The fully insulated 2-storey Macrocarpa clad lodge is 240 square meters and north facing. The lodge is perched on the end of the ridge like it is floating above the valley below. The entire upper floor is the open-plan kitchen, dining and living areas and consists of 120 square meters. Windows wrapping all around let the sun stream in while you enjoy a friendly game of pool. The full wrap around upper and lower decks mean you can enjoy the view in any direction at any time. The lower deck is covered for all weather situations. The kitchen area has natural timber bench tops throughout, driftwood handles, and plenty of space for 4 to 6 people to comfortably cook up a storm and still be part of the action. Fully kitted out with brand new eco appliances: coffee machine, fridge/freezer/full size oven, gas hob, dishwasher, air fryer, food processor, blender, toaster, griller, and UV water filtration system. Enjoy your feast at the massive family-crafted macrocarpa dining table or the kitchen breakfast bar area. The open-plan living area with solid timber floors has a divided-off chillax zone with a second smart TV setup. So the kids could watch Netflix while the adults play pool, enjoy the views, or watch sports on the main smart TV and sound system in the lounge. This is a family home that is lived in full time. Downstairs are 3 full size bedrooms with new king size beds. One of the bedrooms has a king size bed with direct access to the outdoor patio spa area and one of the bathrooms. The two other bedrooms have king size beds and single bunk beds. Electric blankets on all king size beds and lots of cosy blankets. Two full size tiled bathrooms with toilets, bath, shower, and vanities. Washer and dryer also available. The wood burning fireplace is downstairs and adequately heats the entire lodge. Ample firewood is provided. The downstairs patio and spa area are a great place to start or end your day. The brand new Jacuzzi hot tub spa can comfortably accommodate 8 adults and is a relaxing oasis to rejuvenate your body and mind. The aqua therapy and LED lighting and soothing waterfall combine with powerful classic jets for a superb hydrotherapy experience. Watch the ever changing vistas from any spot on the full wrap around upper and lower decks and from the spa. This is an EPIC experience to say the least! The land is 28 hectares of sloping and steep native bush with abundant native birds, a natural spring, and a stream trickling down the hill feeding into the Riwaka river. Wild deer and pigs frequent the area, as well as, the odd Moa. We LOVE Kea Ridge Lodge as our family home and we know you will too. No hunting allowed. Guest access: There is no public transportation in this area so having a vehicle is essential. The house is 2-storey with multiple access points all via stairs, so wheelchairs and elderly persons may find this challenging. However, there is a grass ramp way outside joining the upper and lower storeys. There is an ample uncovered flat parking area outside. The driveway is 500 meters from the state highway 60. Other things to note: The driveway is a gravel surface. Please drive slowly and mindfully. The driveway is NOT suitable for lower vehicles, ie your dads Ferrari.
