About this Holiday House

Just a short distance from Alexandra, Galloway sits on a meandering river. With so many other natural wonders to explore right on the doorstep, you are never far from something to do - we can't wait to share it with you! On our three-acre block, we have some rare, white fallow deer, a few sheep, chooks, and a couple of wee dogs. We're surrounded by lifestyle blocks and small farms with livestock, allowing you to reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape. Ride the rail trail or just watch the riders pedal past, it's entirely up to you. Be as active or as chilled as you wish, there are no pressures or expectations here. Enjoy a Nespresso, grab a book, rattle the feed bucket for the sheep and deer; how about some pizza, plonk and pétanque? I've endeavoured to capture the essence of the early 1900s, aligning with the era when the Otago Central Branch Railway was first completed. Our location places us right alongside a portion of the extraordinary 152-kilometer-long rail trail. This makes our spot perfect for a few leisurely days before or after your cycling adventure on any of the local trails. And if cycling isn't your cup of tea, there's something for everyone to savour. The charm of Alexandra and its surrounding areas offers a myriad of experiences that cater to diverse interests and preferences. Not everyone comes to Central to ride a bike, right? Whatever the reason for your stay, we welcome you to enjoy the vibe of a bygone era in this unique, purpose-built railway carriage, designed to cater to your every comfort. Cozy and comfortable with huge fluffy towels and luxury linens, this compact space offers a queen-size bed with an electric blanket, ensuite bathroom, kitchenette and more!

Special Amenities

There is limited kitchen space. However, a small Webber BBQ and pizza oven are available as well as a microwave, kettle and toaster for your convenience. There’s an under-bench fridge and I usually make sure there is some ice available in the ice box for you when you get here! A few pantry basics such as olive oil, salt and pepper etc are on hand and continental breakfast items are provided each morning. Fresh free-range eggs are also available if the chooks are behaving and some home baking will greet you on arrival, if I’m behaving! Relax in one of our outdoor baths - star gaze in privacy whilst enjoying some bubbles! DOGS: We understand that dogs are family, and we're happy to welcome them. However, we have some requirements: Pets must be vaccinated, well-behaved, and by prior arrangement only. Please let us know if you plan to bring your furry companion.

Special Attractions and Activities Nearby

Whether you prefer a leisurely walk, a refreshing bike ride, or a picturesque drive to the hilltop, breathtaking views await you. As you venture further along the road, you'll discover a delightful spot for swimming or ice skating, depending on the season. If wine is your thing then there are plenty of award-winning wineries to tempt the tastebuds as well as gin tasting, tap rooms and cideries and of course cafes and restaurants all serve local and seasonal produce. We're so lucky to have so much choice, so close by!
