Our farm is located a short drive from Maheno with its historic St Andrew’s church which is open most days for a visit. The local petrol station has cheap petrol and great ice creams! The sea side town of Kakanui is about 10 kms away and has a safe swimming beach on the south side of town. Great for surfing, boogey boarding or a walk down to All Day Bay and back (around 4kms each way). Further south is the lovely sea side village of Moeraki and the famous Moeraki Boulders. Well worth a trip to see these amazing stone formations, and a walk out to the Moeraki Lighthouse. The Moeraki Tavern does great Blue Cod fish and chips. Our local town of Oamaru is 18kms away and is home to the little blue penguins, with nightly viewings of the penguins coming ashore. Oamaru is also home to an interesting historic precinct with its iconic Whitestone buildings, cool shops and artist galleries, Scott’s brewery, the end of the Alps2Ocean cycle trail and delicious Whitestone Cheese.
