Located on a 5th generation family farm in peaceful Patearoa, Central Otago, ‘The Cottage’ will immediately pull you into the simplicity and comfort of country life – a quaint, peaceful, relaxing escape.
‘The Cottage’ is the ideal place to rest, recharge and reconnect. Perfect for couples’ getaways, family holidays, gatherings with friends, or accommodation while doing the Central Otago Rail Trail.
The Cottage is an old building that has recently been lovingly restored so we ask that you respect this and treat it with care. We also insist that there are to be NO PARTIES held onsite.
Dogs (outside only) and horses are welcome and an airstrip is available for those who wish to fly in/out.
'The Cottage' was built over 100 years ago for Fred and Violet McSkimming and was crafted from mud bricks that were made onsite. It has recently been lovingly restored inside and out so it can continue to be used and enjoyed by future generations, friends, family and visitors to the area.
Basking in the sun and restored with holiday makers in mind, the charming cottage offers endless ways to relax and unwind. From enjoying your morning cup of tea or coffee on the veranda while soaking in the views, to enjoying a glass of wine while watching the sun go down, playing board games in front of the cosy fire, streaming a movie, or taking in the spectacular night sky on a clear evening.
We welcome our guests as we welcome our friends and family – with fresh home baking to enjoy with a cuppa.
