About this Holiday House

Available from October to April only, Middlemarch Cottage is a one bedroom cottage on the edge of Middlemarch village at the southern end of the Central Otago rail trail. It's quiet, and cozy with one double bed, and a fold-out couch. It's suitable for 1-2 people. It has a great wee kitchen, bathroom, and sunny deck. Heating is by log-burner only. There's a writing desk. There's no Wifi, and no TV. Our cottage is a quiet retreat. The cottage has fantastic views down the valley to the Rock and Pillar Range and the Kakanui Mountains. There are several excellent DOC walks nearby for experienced walkers, and the Sutton Salt Lake for an easier loop. Middlemarch is a sub-alpine region, high and dry and can be very cold, very windy and also very hot. Please be prepared for all weather.

Quaint cottage meets Kiwi bach. Basic, clean and tidy with a great view. Plenty of firewood supplied but it was warm enough without lighting the fire. Would have appreciated some milk but arrived early enough to go and get some. Owner was pleasant, with good communication.

Great wee pad looking across the paddocks of Middlemarch. Kirsty had the woodburner fire set ready for us to light. The "window" in the wall between bedroom and living room is an innovative way of making the whole place easy to heat whilst retaining privacy for the sleeping area, plus you can chat without being in the same room, and pass things through the gap - nifty! There's only a tiny kitchen bench so bring easy-prep food. Bed is flat (good) but quite firm.
