About this Holiday House
DOGS WELCOME, NOT IN THE HUT THOUGH.
Welcome to a unique location at the brink of rural Southland.
As the flats of Invercargill end at the edge of this post apocalyptic site, to capture beautiful views of the country side and the Takitimu Mountains in the colder month.
You will enjoy the use of private walking tracks and be a supporter of future native bush redevelopment.
The house is set close to an old factory that was historically important for the 2nd World War, Southland and many young Kiwis.
Underwood, Southland, New Zealand
Located next to State Highway 99, close to the old Milo factory.
The neighbourhood was established around the factory from 1900 to supply Highland Condensed milk, granulate coffee and Milo.
Unfortunately since its closedown in 1965, the site was let go and it only been in recent years that the buildings are slowly being maintained again, hopefully to a stage where it could become a well kept point of historic Southland.
Please feel free to use the walking tracks, dropping down below the Tiny House to the left.
Please be cautious as the slope can be slippery and the walkways have ruts and water in the colder month.
Also be aware of the unfenced pond and other hazards, so do not leave the mowed tracks.
Please do not use the driveways to explore any surrounding buildings as there are multiple hazards due to work etc.
There is a pretty good food place at the parking lot you turned in at the Grocer, for any meat, homely ingredients , good coffee and a fantastic variety of warm and cold foods.
