Secluded native bush surroundings within minutes of walking distance to the sea. Short walk to the lighthouse and seal colony. The area is seeped in local history with several areas named after the famous Polynesian navigator, Kupe who lived in the immediate area for over two decades. The Pukeatua Pa site is on the property and offers an incredible view of the surrounding area. There is a track up to the Pa Site which now shows the result of the past 15 years of native plant regeneration.

Across the road is the beach and the seal colony, also home to a very large sea elephant for the past 2 years. Boat Bay provides easy launching of smaller fishing boats and there are numerous crayfish and paua diving opportunities. At the top of the 258 lighthouse steps is yet another breathtaking view, taking in parts of the East coast. Through the gate and about 4 km around the coast is a Stone wall with an amazing set of Waterfalls (the Spa of all Spas!!) Heading back toward Ngawi is the famous Kupe's Sail and Recreational Reserve which offers a spectacular walk up the little Mangatoetoe Stream. 20 minutes further north is the Pinnacles, about an hour and a half round trip up the river bed or the bush walk. Well worth the effort.
