Nestled conveniently in the valley of Vogeltown, with plenty of free parking, stunning elevated views and all day sun, Conifer House is a gardeners' paradise sitting on 3,000 square metres of land, among beautifully landscaped gardens and native bush. With over 60 species of birds (incuding chooks), you will find the location peaceful and relaxing. It is a convenient location being so close to the Airport, the south coast, and the City and motorway north. Conifer House has its own balcony and private garden where you can picnic/bbq and relax. The remainder of the land is part of a cross lease shared by the 4 townhouse occupiers (presently only 4 people) at 6 Whaui Street. If you have young children, there is a great little park and playground with swings and slides and a flying fox. The park is just a 5 minute walk from the apartment and is on Krull Street.

If you prefer to walk into the City, at the end of Whaui Street on Connaught Terrace, you will see the 'City to Sea Walkway' which meanders through the forest and takes you down to the City via either Brooklyn or Mount Cook. Its a pleasant 30 minute stroll offering lovely views over Newtown. Connaught Terrace at the end of Whaui Street offers some of Wellington's most beautiful views over the Basin Reserve, across to Mount Victoria, the City and harbour. For those that wish to take the 21 bus into the City, during weekdays it leaves regularly from the bus stop beside the orange dairy and takeaway on Short Street. The quickest route to the dairy and bus stop is to walk to the bottom of the garden and go through the little gate on the left side of our property. You will see a private road there which leads to the dairy and bus stop within a couple of minutes. Please ensure you shut the gate behind you so the chooks don't join you on your bus journey. In the weekends, catch the No. 7 bus from Brooklyn to the City. Its just a short walk from the apartment up to the bus stop on Washington Avenue (15 minutes). This is the easiest route home from the City as it is all down hill from Washington Avenue, down Fortunatus Street, and around to Whaui Street. For great food, swimming and surfing, Island Bay and Lyall Bay on our wonderful south coast are only a five to 10 minute drive away. Similarly Newtown, the hospital, cafes and restaurants and the zoo are all within walking distance if you are fit or just a short bus ride away. Brooklyn has one of Wellington's best restaurants "The Salty Pigeon" on Todman Street. There is also a good variety of Indian, Malaysian, Chinese and European takeaways and the Penthouse Cinema. Also on offer are bakeries, a very good delicatessen and Convenience Store. On the south coast, families enjoy a range of cafes including Spruce Goose which has great views of the big jets coming and going from Wellington Airport and the surfers riding the waves right across the road. Guests constantly remind me how very well positioned the apartment is to explore from, and after an action packed day in and around the best little Capital in the World, you will find Conifer House a lovely private retreat to return to.
